Abstract. One of the most common motives for stylization and decoration was floral, or the so-called floromorphism. It is believed that the language of flowers was created in the East. The flower was shown not only as an aesthetic object of admiration, but also expressed as an allegorical symbol.

With the development of technology and new technologies, the symbolism of clothing loses that significance and rather has a decorative function. But even so, the «language of flowers» has not lost its relevance. Studies on the transformation of the natural form in a suit by copying and stylizing natural features, as well as transferring them to a suit, have revealed six types of transformation of the natural form, which can also be attributed to floral symbolism.

The purpose of the article is to reveal how the symbolism of floral motifs in modern costume is interconnected with the general mood of the entire collection and style. By function, a flower can be: a semantic center, a sensual center, a decorative center, a color center, a stylistic center, a compositional center. Thus, the floral form, reflecting both on a separate element and on the general line, defines the entire concept of the collection or complements it with signs characteristic of the style. The flower fills the costume with information, allowing to show the mood, image and emotion reflected in the designer’s idea. The symbolism of flowers, their «language» helps to decipher the brand’s philosophy, characteristic techniques, and also offers a wide range of options for the execution of typical brand shapes, silhouettes, decorative elements, printed patterns and textures.
