Abstract. The authors in the article consider the features of the ornamental concept of clothing of the peoples of the Far East of Russia and China on the example of individual ethnic groups of the Tungus-Manchu language group — Udege, Oroch and Manchu. The authors show that in the modern world with great ethnic diversity there are peoples with similar cultural and historical features. It has been established that the culture of the ethnic groups of the north developed over the centuries and was maximally adapted to the harsh natural conditions, and national clothes were part of visual communication (color, signs and symbols in the costume) throughout their historical development. The authors considered the territory of residence of the indigenous peoples of the Khabarovsk Territory and modern China, the ornamental concept of clothing of individual representatives of the Tungus-Manchu language group (Orochs, Udeges and Manchus). It has been established that their national costumes have many similar coloristic and ornamental elements, but at the same time differ in constructive and decorative elements, including headdresses and shoes. The priority of the costume was the color solution, then attention was paid to the ornament, which for the considered ethnic groups represented wavy and spiral-ribbon lines, mainly reflecting the floral ornament. And in the end, attention was paid to headdresses and elements of footwear, which was of a utilitarian nature, and was necessary to protect the body from adverse weather conditions. The authors came to the conclusion about the significance of the ornamental concept of clothing of the ethnic groups under consideration in their modern environmental and urban space.
